Our Science of Reading Foundations virtual workshop helps educators unlock the power of effective reading instruction by exploring current reading science. Join our science of reading experts to confidently build your knowledge base as you put research into practice in your classroom!
Our experts will:
- Explore the latest reading research advancements around how reading skills are acquired and how the science impacts instruction at each grade level.
- Examine critical frameworks for reading including Scarborough’s Rope, Gough and Tunmer’s Simple View of Reading and Seidenberg and McClelland’s Four-Part Distributed Processing Model.
- Take a closer look at Dehaene’s Four Pillars of Learning.
- Recognize important contributions from the field of neuroscience including brain research related to sound, vision, and neural pathways that lead to skilled reading.
- Describe three graphic representations of reading to explain the process of reading and the implications for improving literacy instruction.
- Explore the five components of reading and identify techniques that contribute to reading development and achievement in the classroom.
This 3-hour session includes one 15-minute break.

Through engaging content and collaborative discussions, participants will gain actionable insights into the science of reading and implementing evidence-based instructional strategies.

All POs must include the name, email address, title, school or district name, phone number, and the correct Science of Reading Foundations class code, listed above by session, for each registrant. This information must appear on your PO or can be sent as an attachment.
Refund Policy
Refunds are permitted up to 7 days before the event, less processing fees.
Virtual Training Guidelines
Attendees should log in to the class using the school or district email address used when registering. All pre and post-training information will be sent to this email address.
A 3-hour professional learning Certificate of Completion will be awarded to each attendee.
