Phonics Instructional Routines that are Aligned with The Science of Reading

Join Dr. Susan Hall, Retired Co-Founder, 95 Percent Group, and Judie Caroleo, Director of Consulting Operations, 95 Percent Group for this engaging session presented in collaboration with the Wisconsin Science of Reading and Literacy Task Force.

The Science of Reading is a hot term.

What does it really mean? How does it relate to a Structured Literacy approach?

After a review of the insights about the reading process revealed through scientific studies, the session will focus on practical application.

Susan and Judie will demonstrate research-based instructional routines to teach:

          • phonemic awareness,
          • sound-spelling mapping,
          • word sorting,
          • word chains,
          • sentence dictation,
          • syllable instruction with gestures, and
          • a process to carry over word learning to passage reading.

Watch the session to learn practical, multimodal instructional routines that align with the Science of Reading.
